The Green School Works program is designed to provide decarbonization grants to Massachusetts K-12 public schools serving low-income (LI) and/or environmental justice populations (EJC). This initiative focuses on installing and maintaining clean energy infrastructure to create healthier, more sustainable learning environments.
The Green School Works Technical Assistance Program offers public K–12 schools, districts, and educational collaboratives in Massachusetts up to $250,000 in no or low-cost support for decarbonization planning. Eligible participants can choose from a Comprehensive Building Assessment, Building Decarbonization Roadmap, or Focused Study, each including a renewable energy feasibility analysis and REC analysis. The program also provides guidance on funding opportunities and incentives for implementing energy-efficient, fossil-fuel-free infrastructure. With rolling enrollment, this is a great first step toward creating modern, sustainable school buildings.
