Solect Energy Milestone
🎉 Major Milestone Achieved

Our Service portfolio has officially surpassed 1,000,000 MWh (1 terawatt-hour) of lifetime solar energy generation.

Which is equivalent to:

Homes

Powering1,203 homesfor an entire year

Gasoline

Avoiding the consumption ofover 1 million gallons of gasoline

We’re also on track to achieve 90% of our $7.5 million Services goal, representing a 17% increase from last year. We’re exceeding revenue targets across both our service agreement and T&M (Break-Fix) business lines. While our Special Service Projects (SSP) are currently tracking below goal, our growing sales funnel positions us well to strengthen our backlog in the coming quarter.

Additionally, we’re in the final stages of implementing Green Power Monitoring (GPM), an industry-leading system that enhances visibility and reporting for both our Service team and our customers. A key advancement with GPM is its automatic weather-adjusted performance data, providing more accurate and transparent insights into system performance against projections.

Veteran Spotlight: Marc Simone and Andreas Schmid

Marc Simone

Marc Simone

Licensed journeyman and master electrician Marc brings 15 years of service in the U.S. Army, including five overseas deployments—with the most recent deployments being in Iraq and Syria—for missions in public aid, peacekeeping, and security within the United States. He is also a licensed drone pilot and EMT. Solect is incredibly proud of team members like Marc, whose remarkable bravery, dedication, and commitment serve the greater good. A special shout-out to Marc and all our veterans for their unwavering service!

Special mention: The American flag adorning the wall at 77 South Street, along with two pictures—one of a platoon and another of a truck with that very flag flying behind it—are symbols brought back home by Marc after driving 2000+ miles across Iraq and Syria in 2004. Marc joined the Army in 2010 as an Infantryman and has served in Afghanistan, Honduras, and DC over the years.

Andreas S

Andreas Schmid

Andreas served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1998 to 2001. He was initially stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, then served with the 3rd Ranger Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia, and later on a Strike Reconnaissance Team with the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Hovey, South Korea.

👥 Workforce Development

Solect is translating DEI from principle to practice through workforce development: Our partnership with Framingham State, PETM 2025, supported 11 High school scholars (70% BIPOC, 55% female) with 150+ training hours, and our college internship pipeline retained three of four students for temporary assignments – opening pathways into well-paid, purpose-driven opportunities.

🌈 Supplier Diversity

On supplier diversity, Solect is building an MWBA database and tracking baseline spend and growth- so more local, diverse businesses participate in the clean-energy economy alongside us.

In 2025, the MWBE-certified firms we partnered with include EAH Engineering and Premier Power EC, with business totaling $43,750 and $252,470, respectively.

Customer Experience

Customer experience is the connective tissue. We launched automated project-stage email updates and a post-PTO survey to capture process, communication, and quality feedback, backed by engagement/efficiency/impact metrics and an escalation framework. The result will be a transparent, inclusive feedback loop where every stakeholder has a voice in shaping better project delivery and stronger communities.

Policy Pulse: Navigating the Evolving Solar Landscape

With the phasing out of the Investment Tax Credits (ITC) expedited, developers nationwide are bracing for impact. Fortunately, Solect enters this transition from a position of strength. Strategic investments, Safe Harbor planning, and proactive project submissions have positioned us to weather policy changes and continue driving growth. Meanwhile, Massachusetts and Rhode Island are doubling down on renewable energy with robust state incentives, streamlined interconnection reforms, and strong support for commercial rooftop solar, which are all right in Solect’s wheelhouse. The following article explores what’s changing, its possible impact on the industry, and how Solect is turning uncertainty into opportunity.

Our Journey

Federal

On July 3, Congress passed H.R. 1 (Public Law 119-21), repealing federal tax credits for solar and wind projects. The U.S. Treasury has allowed a phase-out period: projects that begin construction before July 4, 2026, have four years to be completed, and those starting after that must be in service by December 31, 2027. Losing the ITC is a major setback for the industry, but thanks to early Safe Harbor investments, Solect is well-positioned to continue growing.

State Incentives

Massachusetts and Rhode Island continue to offer some of the strongest solar incentives in the country, especially for rooftop systems under 1 MW, which is a core strength of Solect. The Massachusetts SMART 3.0 Program took effect on September 12 and provides significant incentives for commercial solar and storage.

A key benefit: behind-the-meter projects up to 250 kW AC now have no annual capacity cap and remain open year-round. A big thank-you to our Regulatory team for submitting 141 applications in the first window that opened on October 15.

Rhode Island’s Renewable Energy Growth (REG) Program also offers strong rooftop solar incentives that stand on their own, even without federal support.

Fun fact: Solect is the official Solar & Storage provider to the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns. Our first League projects, through the REAP program with PowerOptions, are underway in Providence.

Interconnection

Massachusetts is witnessing significant progress on the interconnection front. The Interconnection Implementation Review Group (IIRG), with representation from Solect’s Andrew Hickok, has agreed on changes to help commercial projects receive ISAs faster. For projects in Group Study areas, utilities will now pre-screen and approve when capacity is available instead of waiting for full Group Study results. This is expected to accelerate approvals, and Solect is actively working with industry partners to advance similar best practices elsewhere.

A trip to the Logan’s Gap Wind Farm

Our interns explored the wind farm’s impact on energy generation, and even had the opportunity to step inside a wind turbine. Beyond the technical insights, the visit was a valuable chance for our interns to connect with their fellow interns from Pattern, share experiences with them, and build relationships across the renewable energy space.
