Project Description

Town Of Coventry, RI

The Town of Coventry is at the forefront in exploring sustainability solutions, and selected Solect as its solar development partner. The Town’s first solar project with Solect was the installation of a 125 KW solar photovoltaic (PV) system on its Town Hall Annex Building. The system, which is owned and maintained by Solect, allows the town through a Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) to purchase electricity at a reduced rate, saving approximately $8,000 in the first year alone.

The project received a grant from the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), which made the project financial feasible. The system is projected to impact approximately one-third of the building’s energy costs.
